Why These Skilled Trades Roles Skip the LMIA Line

A Labour Market Impact Assessment exists to prove no Canadian worker was available for a job before a temporary foreign worker fills it. The Alberta Rural Renewal Stream, the Atlantic Immigration Program, and Rural and Francophone Community Immigration (RCIP) work differently. They're employer-driven, community-endorsed pathways to permanent residence: a participating employer extends a genuine job offer, a local or provincial body recommends or designates that employer, and the candidate applies for PR directly — no LMIA step in between. For skilled tradespeople, that usually means the difference between years on a temporary work permit and a much shorter runway to permanent status.
